Mission Statement
“A scar is a sign of strength. . . The sign of a survivor”
SCAR was created in 2020 to give the homeless dogs and cats of the Texas Panhandle a second chance. We rescue animals from the high kill shelters across the region and place in loving foster homes. Once there, they are provided veterinary care, spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped ready for a new forever home. We are staffed completely by volunteers, we rely on them, our fosters, and donations to continue our work.

When you adopt, you're not just giving a deserving pet a home. You're also reducing the demand for puppy mills and backyard breeding. When you adopt from SCAR, you are contributing to a lower city euthanasia rate.
Fostering Saves Lives
Fostering is free. We provide all you need to care for your temporary furry friend. Without fosters, we can’t save lives. SCAR is 100% foster based. With more fosters, we can save more city shelter animals. Find a pet in the city shelter you would like to save? Reach out to us! We can pull that little one to safety and into your care. Puppies, like Rocky pictured here, depend on us to be their voice. If you won’t, then who? Help us save more cats and dogs. It is easy as 1, 2, and 3!
Volunteer Opportunities

Our adoption days always need some extra hands. There we have many tasks: taking the dogs potty, giving them water, correcting bad manners, keeping the pets relaxed, speaking with others about our rescue, building relationships with the public, setting up or breaking down the crates, and so much more!

Fosters are ALWAYS needed to save more pets. We supply all the needs you may have. Fostering is free. Message us for more information!

As a nonprofit, SCAR relies on community donations to help the animals of our city.
